This article examines the role of Islamic architectural spatial patterns in enhancing the sense of place in public spaces. Given the growing need in urban societies for spaces that foster tranquility, social interaction, and a deep connection with the environment, Islamic architecture—with principles such as symmetry, balance, integration of natural elements, and distinctive lighting—provides a conducive foundation for these objectives. This qualitative study analyzes unique characteristics of Islamic architectural patterns and evaluates their impact on user experiences in public spaces. Findings indicate that Islamic spatial designs, by creating meaningful and positive experiences, significantly influence users' sense of place and can serve as a model for designing effective and satisfying public spaces. Additionally, challenges such as the need to adapt traditional patterns to modern requirements and the integration of sustainable technologies for improving these spaces are discussed. The results of this research can serve as a foundation for architects and designers in creating public, cultural, and social spaces that align with the psychological and social needs of users. Finally, recommendations are provided for future research to further harmonize Islamic architectural patterns with modern contexts and to explore the long-term effects on the sense of place.
