This article examines the role of smart lighting systems in enhancing the quality of urban architecture, focusing on their impact on sustainability, aesthetics, and the environmental experience of urban residents. Smart lighting systems, utilizing sensors and intelligent algorithms, enable adaptive lighting in urban spaces, adjusting dynamically according to environmental and social conditions. Findings from this study indicate that these systems, besides reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs, contribute to mitigating light pollution, increasing public satisfaction, and enhancing citizens' sense of safety. Additionally, due to their ability to improve visual quality and create a harmonious setting with other urban design elements, smart lighting elevates the visual experience of individuals in public spaces. Among the limitations, the high installation and maintenance costs and the need for advanced communication infrastructure present challenges that require careful consideration for implementation across various cities. In the concluding section, suggestions for future research in developing and optimizing smart lighting are offered, including the application of machine learning algorithms to enhance system performance and studies on the social and cultural impacts of smart lighting on urban identity. Overall, the article concludes that smart lighting, as a critical technology in urban architecture and management, holds substantial potential for improving urban life quality and supporting sustainable development.
